Science Lesson assessments
Before
Assessment: 4 corners
Description of the assessment: it is a type of assessment where the teacher uses the 4 corners in the classroom and label each corner. The teacher asks the students a question or gives the students object and the students must look for the right corner (Dyer, 2012).
Theme week: My Body and My Senses
Subject: science
Learning outcome: KLW3- describe the five senses and their corresponding body parts
Description of the activity: I labeled each corner in the class with a different sesnse. I gave each student an object that goes with the different sense for example perfume, slime, red paper, music instrument, and candy. I asked the students to think about the object they were holding and where does it belong.
During
Assessment: taking notes and asking questions
Description of the assessment: taking notes is an assessment that allows the teachers to see the students, observe them and ask them questions which will help them to identify the students level and to come up with ways to improve the students level. “Posing a question to the class, allowing for think time, and then calling on a student is one simple strategy for engaging students in better academic discourse” (Johnson, 2013).
